I feel like I need a support group after my experience last night. I found a "highly qualified" private tutor for my philosophy of ethics paper. Red flag number one: he wanted to meet at a noisy coffee shop at 9 PM. Red flag two: he spent the first 20 minutes complaining about his other students.

Then, when we finally got to my essay, which I thought was pretty solid, he basically told me my entire argument was "childish" and that I should scrap it and write about something else entirely. He then proceeded to mansplain Kant to me for an hour, doodling diagrams on napkins that looked like conspiracy theories. I left more confused, more anxious, and $60 poorer.

I'm almost tempted to start a Yelp for tutors. Please, please tell me I'm not the only one with a private tutor disaster story. I need to know there are others who've survived bad tutoring so I can feel brave enough to try finding a new one.

The mansplaining Kant on napkins visual is sending me though 😂 Like sir, this is a coffee shop, not a philosophy seminar.

But seriously—calling your argument "childish"? That's not feedback, that's cruelty disguised as expertise. A real tutor builds you up, even when giving criticism.

Please don't let this guy scare you off. There are good ones out there. He just wasn't it. 🚩
