Reference page formatting

Like said, Rummaging through the labyrinth of historical archives for my latest paper, I've realized this bibliography is an art that demands precision. You know, the kind where you're trying to piece together th-century puzzle with just candlelight. Anyhow, I'm hunting for reliable sources to bolster my reference page. JSTOR has been trusty companion so far, but I'm open to discovering more gems in this vast academic universe. Also, as much as adore immersing myself in dusty old books and manuscripts stumbled upon one called Editage. They advertise advanced editing at $0.044 per word and it seems they handle reference formatting too. That's tempting considering the fact that right now, my reference page looks like an abstract painting! Yet, find myself hesitant; it almost feels like cheating. Has anyone here tried one of these services? And more importantly, did it feel like selling your soul to the devil or more like summoning an angel of mercy?
