Poetry always intimidated me. All the symbolism, the line breaks—I felt like I wasn't "smart enough" to write it. But I saw a free writing course listed called "Writing and Reading Poems" and decided to face my fear .

It was the best decision. The course didn't expect me to be Shakespeare. It just encouraged me to play with words, to describe a feeling without using its name.

The exercises were gentle and exploratory. I actually wrote a poem about my grandmother's kitchen that made my mom cry (happy tears!). If you are a prose writer who is scared of poetry, find a free writing course that welcomes beginners. It might just unlock a new part of your soul. 🌹

Poetry is play, and it's for everyone. The fact that your poem made your mom cry? That's the highest compliment a writer can get. You unlocked a new part of yourself, and that's beautiful.
